Birds flying with their hollow bones through the air
I hear you come up the stairs

But it will grow

You read aloud sitting on the porch
From the book you used to prop open the door
So the cats could come through
There's only so much a summer nap can undo

I wake up I wait for my eyes to adjust
and it's too hot for our bodies to touch
